Instructions
Prepare a medium-hot campfire with a stable grate or use a portable grill over embers.
Toss broccoli spears with 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.
In a small cup or jar, mix remaining olive oil, lemon zest, minced garlic, remaining lemon juice, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt. Set aside for drizzling.
Place broccoli spears directly on the grill grate. Cook, turning occasionally with tongs, until bright green and nicely charred in spots, about 7-8 minutes.
Transfer to a plate and immediately drizzle with lemon-garlic oil. Serve warm.
Notes
Grilling broccoli over fire brings out smoky flavors and a crisp-tender texture. Prep the lemon-garlic oil ahead for minimal fuss. If your fire is strong, watch closely to avoid burning—move spears to cooler spots as needed.
