Desert Sage Prickly Pear Agua Fresca

A Southwest-inspired agua fresca mixing prickly pear syrup with fresh lime juice and wild sage, resulting in a stunning magenta cooler ideal for desert or canyon camps.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup prickly pear syrup store-bought or homemade
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice fresh
  • 2 sprigs fresh sage lightly bruised
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions

  • Add prickly pear syrup and lime juice to water bottle or jug.
  • Drop in sage sprigs and ice. Stir or shake to combine.
  • Let steep for 5 minutes, then serve over more ice.
  • Remove sage sprigs before drinking if desired.

Notes

Pack prickly pear syrup in a leak-proof container. To keep cold, chill in a cooler or submerge the bottle in a spring or creek.
