Ingredients

  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate chopped or chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch cayenne pepper optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Place chocolate, cream, and butter in a small cast iron skillet or fondue pot over gentle campfire heat.
  • Stir constantly until melted and smooth, about 5–6 minutes.
  • Stir in orange zest, cinnamon, cayenne (if using), and vanilla.
  • Remove from heat and set on a stable, heatproof surface.
  • Serve immediately with fruit, cookies, or marshmallows for dipping.

Notes

Keep the skillet over low coals to avoid scorching the chocolate. Use long forks or skewers for safe dipping. Enjoy around a communal campfire for a memorable group dessert.
