One-Pot Campfire Hot Chocolate with Toasted Marshmallows

Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole milk or preferred non-dairy
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt tiny pinch
  • 1 cup marshmallows

Instructions

  • Add milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt to the pot.
  • Place over medium campfire heat and whisk constantly until cocoa and sugar dissolve and mixture steams, about 6-7 minutes. Do not boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Pour into mugs.
  • Toast marshmallows over the fire using skewers until golden brown.
  • Top each cup with toasted marshmallows and serve warm.

Notes

Monitor milk over campfire to avoid scorching. Toast marshmallows just before serving for gooey texture. Rinse pot immediately for easy cleaning.
