Backcountry Apple Pecan Muesli Cups

5

Camp cooking rewards the meals you can set up once and forget about until you’re ready to eat. Backcountry Apple Pecan Muesli Cups take advantage of that rhythm: a quick stir in a mug or small jar at day’s end, then you let the night do the work while you filter water, hang a line, or crawl into your quilt.

By morning, the oats have softened in a splash of milk or water, dried apples turn pleasantly plump, and toasted pecans keep a little crunch for contrast. It’s hearty without feeling heavy, lightly sweet without needing much help, and especially welcome on cool starts when you’d rather save fuel and time.

If you’re trying to keep a bear can organized or avoid digging through your food bag half-awake, portioning into individual cups pays off. Mix and eat from the same container, tuck it somewhere chilly if you can, and you’ve got a grab-and-go breakfast that travels cleanly from trailhead to overlook.
