Original Date: 2007-06-26
Serves: 3-4
Prep Time: 1-30m
Difficulty: easy
Backpacking: No
Ingredients
- 4 large sweet onions (like Walla Wallas)
- 4 beef boullion cubes
- 4 pats (tbs) of butter
- 4 large squares tin foil
Instructions
Peel papery layers off onion. Slice an X into the top half of each onion and slightly pry open. Place Boullion cube and pat of butter into each onion. Tightly wrap with tin foil (keep cut side up) and cook in campfire coals 25-30 minutes. Unwrap in bowl so you catch all the juice – tastes just like french onion soup. Sprinkle with cheese, if desired.
