Quick Campfire S’mores Nachos

3

When the day’s been long and the dish tub is already full, the last thing you want is a dessert that requires extra bowls, plates, and a sink’s worth of scrubbing. Quick Campfire S’mores Nachos keep it simple: one cast-iron skillet, a few familiar staples, and everyone eating right from the pan—no sticky stacks of dishes migrating around the picnic table. The only real “prep” is breaking up graham crackers and scattering chocolate, which makes it an easy job for kids at camp.

Slide the skillet to the edge of the coals instead of over roaring flames and let the heat creep in. Marshmallows puff and toast at the edges, chocolate turns shiny and melty, and the crackers soften just enough to scoop while still giving you some crunch. Rotate the pan now and then so the hot spots don’t get ahead of the rest, especially if your fire is uneven.

It’s made for sharing after dinner when everyone’s lingering by the fire ring. Keep the heat gentle so nothing scorches, then pull it off as soon as the top looks gooey and bronzed. Once it cools, a quick wipe-out is usually all it needs—leaving more time for stories, not cleanup.

Instructions

  • Scatter graham cracker pieces in the bottom of the skillet.
  • Top with marshmallows and chocolate chips.
