Serves: 3-4
Prep Time: 1-30m
Difficulty: average
Backpacking: Yes
Ingredients
- 1 lb Steak- ums or other frozen prepared cheese steak meat
- 1 onion
- 2 green pepper
- .25 lb provolone
- .5 lb american cheese
- salt and pepper
- 6 hoggie buns
Instructions
This is a good gut bomb meal for the first night out on an arduous trip.
Saute beef, onions and peppers until everthing is tender (15-20mins). While cooking, add salt and pepper to taste. When you think your mixture is done, add cheese, let melt and divie up between the buns.
The frozen steak-ums will keep well if you wrap them in 1-2 paper bags and place them between your sleeping bag and other insulating equipment (ie tent, clothing, ect.). For hotter weather, 90+, make sure meat is in 1 or 2 quality freezer bags. If above 100 degrees, find a different place to hike.
