Serves: any
Difficulty: easy
Backpacking: No
Ingredients
- 1 large bowl with a tight lid
- 4 sleeves of unsalted saltine crackers
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix (Not the Ranch Dip mix)
- 2T Red Pepper Flakes
Instructions
(This is great to do either at home before you go camping and bring it with you, or at the campsite the night before you go on a hike)
In a small bowl, mix oil, dressing mix, and pepper flakes (You may want to rub the pepper flakes to wake them up a bit). In the large bowl, put in 2 of the sleeves of saltines. Pour half of the mixture over the saltines. Put in the other 2 sleeves of saltines and then pour the rest of mixture on it. Put the lid on the bowl and start flipping. You'll want to flip the bowl about every 15 minutes many times so that all crackers are saturated (Great to do while you're watching TV or something like that). After about a couple hours of flipping, you can turn it one way and let it sit for the rest of the night. The next day, you'll have a wonderful spicy snack to take a long with you.
